Today, I’m spotlighting Lemon Essential Oil! Did you know that it takes 75 lemons to make a 15ml bottle of Lemon?! The essential oil of citrus fruits is cold-pressed from the rind, therefore, it’s not acidic, and will not damage the enamel on your teeth – great news, right? Below, I share 10 amazing ways (of many!) to use lemon essential oil in your home and with your family. Enjoy!

1. Improve Mental Focus
Increase brain function by diffusing lemon essential oil while studying or working.
2. Naturally Detox
Add 1 drop of Lemon (Vitality) to a glass of water in the morning for a naturally detoxifying drink.
3. All Natural Degreaser
Lemon essential oil is an amazing natural degreaser! The limonene found in citrus peels (where the essential oil comes from) is what makes it such a great grease fighter. It cleanses and removes stains, too. For an all natural degreaser combine: 2 cups water, 2 Tbsp baking soda, 2 tsp of Castile Soap, and 15-20 drops of lemon essential oil in a spray bottle. Or, you could simply add a few drops of lemon to some natural dish soap!
4. Fruit and Veggie Wash
To make a fruit and veggie wash, fill a bowl with water and add 2-3 drops of lemon essential oil. Place produce in the water and stir it around until all the fruit and vegetable have come into contact with the lemon. This both cleanses the produce, and extends the shelf life!
5. Soften Calluses
Apply lemon essential oil to calluses, corns, and/or bunions twice a day to soften and soothe them.
6. Remove Sticky Labels
Simply apply 1-2 drops to remove adhesive, gum, or glue. Lemon essential oils is a fantastic natural Goo-Gone!
7. Relieve Seasonal Discomforts
I support my respiratory system by diluting lemon, lavender, and peppermint essential oils (1-2 drops each) with a little carrier oil (jojoba, grape seed, coconut oil, etc.), and applying it to the back of my neck. NOTE: I only trust this brand of essential oils.
8. Stain Remover
Too easy! Lemon essential oil as a stain remover works on grease stains, food, wine, whatever… Yes, it works! Simply apply Lemon essential oil over the stain and then immediately wash the item. You can use Lemon on old stains but you need to apply it right before you wash it. You cannot use this as a pre-treatment. If you try and pre-treat the stain with Lemon, and let it sit, you may end up with it yellowing.
9. Soothe Occasional Ear Discomfort
I never get on an airplane without Lemon in my purse! Apply a drop of Lemon essential oil behind and around the ear (not in it!) when feeling discomfort, it’s so soothing.
10. Air Freshener
Diffuse 5-10 drops of lemon essential oil in a cold diffuser to freshen air, it’s such a nice clean scent! I love combining lemon with other essential oils as well. Rosemary, Basil, and Bergamot essential oils are all lovely when blended with Lemon.
Cautions for using Lemon Essential Oil
Lemon is photosensitive, avoid applying to skin that will be exposed to sunlight or UV light within 24 hours. Citrus essential oils are not compatible with most plastic materials. Therefore, only glass or stainless steel containers are recommended for use and storage.
