I’m spotlighting Peppermint Essential Oil today! First, did you know peppermint is the naturally occurring hybrid of watermint and spearmint plants? And, it takes approximately one pound of peppermint plant to make one bottle of essential oil. Young Living Peppermint essential oil is so potent that just 1 drop is equivalent to 26 cups of peppermint tea… just WOW! Below, I share 8 of my favorite ways to use this oil. Enjoy!

1. Support Digestion
Peppermint (Vitality) supports a healthy digestive system, including promoting healthy intestinal function and gastrointestinal system comfort.* You can add a drop to a large glass of water or put a drop under your tongue. Note: I only trust this brand to take as a supplement – please be sure to read your labels carefully.
2. Energize
Put a drop of Peppermint in your palm, rub hands together and cup them around your nose and inhale… ahhh… it’ll wake you up! After inhaling a few times I like to rub the remainder on my hands on the back of my neck. This is great to do before going for a run, tackling a workout, or for road trips!
3. Refreshing Cool Down
Rub a few drops of peppermint on the bottom of the feet, back of neck, or on the wrists to cool down.
4. Wake Up the Mind
Dilute a drop of peppermint oil in a bit of carrier oil (coconut oil, jojoba oil, etc.) and apply it to the temples, along the hairline, and the back of the neck. Then cup your hands around your nose and take a few breaths. This is great for when you need to focus on a task, study, or just need to wake up.
5. Substitute in Recipes
You can substitute 1/8 tsp Young Living’s Peppermint (Vitality) essential oil (I only trust and recommend this brand) for 1 tsp of peppermint extract. You may want to add more drops if needed to taste. I love adding 4 drops to a batch of chocolate brownies! Or my favorite – add 1 drop to a mug of hot chocolate – YUM!
6. Breath Freshener
Just a drop of Peppermint (Vitality) essential oil on the tongue can substitute for a breath mint! Or, you can make your own breath spray to carry in your purse – In a small (1 ml) spray bottle add 1 drop peppermint essential oil, fill it with distilled water, and shake before spraying – easy and simple!
7. Support Your Scalp
Add 1-3 drops of Peppermint essential oil per oz of your favorite shampoo. Not only is it energizing and refreshing, it helps stimulate your scalp and keep it healthy!
8. Soothe Your Skin
Add Peppermint essential oil to your favorite body products, or you can make your own DIY Face and Body Wash.
