This is a concoction I made for Koda, my pupdog! I call it the “Puppy Pacifier” and have used it to help her relieve stress of all kinds. Though she mainly has issues during storms, she sometimes has an issue with separation and this just chills her out so she’s not anxious and trying to follow us out of the door. I keep a small batch on hand so I’m not scrambling in the moment.
I only recommend Young Living Essential Oils for their quality and purity, and they must be diluted according to your pet’s weight/size. Toy dogs 75% dilution; small/medium 50%; med/large 25%; 80lbs+ human adult dose. Animals are individuals, and what works well for some, may not work well for others. Start light, and adjust accordingly. The recipe shared below is what I personally use on my 50 lb dog.
Recipe
Recipe for 50 lb dog.
- 1.5 tsp Coconut Oil (cold-pressed)
- 3 drops Lavender (I recommend this brand)
- 3 drops Peace and Calming (like this brand)
Add all oils to a glass jar, mix well, and store in a cool dark place. You only need to use a little bit, this batch is about 6 “servings”. I have success rubbing it on the back of her ears, the very tips of the insides (you don’t want it to get in their ears), and then I rub what’s left between my hands and pet her down her back. If it’s a really bad storm – or I want it to act quickly – I will apply it to the pads of her back paws.

FYI: Peace & Calming is a gentle blend of essential oils that contains Tangerine (Citrus nobilis), orange (Citrus aurantium), ylang ylang (Cananga odorata), patchouli (Pogostemon cablin) and blue tansy (Tanacetum annuum).
Pssst…. this recipe is relaxing for humans too! {wink}
